ASHI is Dedicated to Advancing Science
The American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) is an international society of professionals dedicated to advancing the science, education and application of immunogenetics and transplant immunology.
With the objective of maintaining the highest standards of reliability and quality in histocompatibility testing laboratories, ASHI established its accreditation program in 1974. ASHI accreditation was originally and still remains voluntary.
ASHI's Purpose
- Evaluate laboratory personnel, procedures and facilities to determine if they are in compliance with ASHI standards
- Promote the educational aspects of the accreditation process, particularly in assisting laboratories in the correction of deficiencies
- Provide expert advice and assistance to committees of the society
- Maintain the society's awareness of standard and novel procedures and methodologies
