OCOE’s mission is better outcomes for everybody. We recognize that marginalized and underrepresented communities shoulder an unequal and unjust burden of cancer. Our vision is to promote health equity by facilitating community partnerships, health education, and cancer research that addresses and reduces cancer health disparities in WA.
Research Collaborations
Our projects are conducted by researchers from Fred Hutch as well as our Consortium partner institutions, University of Washington and Seattle Children's. We also partner with external research teams.
Partnering with community members, especially those who are disproportionately affected by cancer, at every stage of the research continuum provides opportunities for community members and researchers to learn from each other while building trust based on the shared goal of improving cancer outcomes.
Community Engagement
We work with individuals and organizations across the state on projects to bring awareness to cancer prevention and screening and reduce health disparities. Projects include planning events, co-hosting workshops, sharing resources, and more!
Our partnerships also include coalition members across the state. By highlighting and sharing regional community feedback and priorities, coalitions support sustainable cancer care programs and build capacity for research collaboration. Together, we work toward listening to community voices, experiences, and expertise to reduce cancer inequities for residents in Washington State.
Cancer Health Equity NOW!
Our Cancer Health Equity NOW podcast amplifies health equity work being done by community organizations, OCOE Community Health Educators, and researchers.
