Dr. Chad “Qianchuan” He is a biostatistician whose research is focused on the development of new statistical methods for the analysis of genomic data related to cancer and other complex diseases. His research is highly interdisciplinary in that it involves artificial intelligence, statistical theory, bioinformatics, and biomedical sciences. Dr. He and his colleagues have developed a statistical approach known as SOMAT to detect somatic mutations associated with multiple cancer-related traits. These mutations, which happen spontaneously or are brought on by environmental exposures, are the driving force for tumor development. Dr. He's biostatistical analysis has been used for studies of breast and liver cancers, tumor microenvironment in sarcoma, as well as risk factors in colon cancer.
