Dr. Yolanda Tseng studies proton therapy and other forms of radiation therapy for people with cancer. She conducts research in the clinic to learn how to control cancer more effectively with these treatments and reduce side effects. Her focus is on blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma and tumors of the brain and central nervous system. She is learning how each patient’s characteristics and tumor subtype affects how well radiotherapy works for them. She also studies how doctors can use radiation to relieve symptoms of cancer (palliative radiation), especially near the end of life. In addition to her research, Dr. Tseng cares for patients as a radiation oncologist.
