Dr. Anna Wald is a Fred Hutch physician and a clinical virology researcher who also heads the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington. She is an expert on infections in patients whose immune systems have been compromised by cancer treatment or viruses such as HIV. Her research is concentrated on the epidemiology, treatment and prevention of herpesviruses, and the development of new vaccines for a variety of viral pathogens. She is an investigator in clinical trials of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and is involved in projects to develop home test kits for self-collection of blood samples for coronavirus antibody studies.
