Fred Hutch joins Washington Employers for Racial Equity

New coalition includes over 50 companies and organizations across the state

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is part of a new coalition of leading businesses and organizations across Washington state committed to racial equity. The Washington Employers for Racial Equity is jointly led by Challenge Seattle, an alliance of leaders across the region’s largest employers, and The Washington Roundtable, a nonprofit organization comprised of senior executives of major private sector employers in Washington state.

The coalition pledged to a fulfill a wide range of goals over the next 10 years, such as:

  • Fostering an inclusive culture inside each organization, including removing bias to achieve racial equity in hiring, evaluation and promotion processes; and providing anti-bias training and racial equity education for employees.
  • Increasing Black representation in management and senior leadership positions.
  • Making racial equity a long-term priority for each participating organization.

Fred Hutch’s participation in the coalition is the latest example of the center’s drive to be a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. Other recent measures include:
