I grew up in the context of lots of health issues and premature deaths in my community. As a teenager, I learned that I loved to listen to people’s stories about their lives and that it seemed to make a difference. When I had my first experience in hospital chaplaincy, I knew I had found a home to pursue and become a Spiritual Health clinician.
I am honored to get to know and participate in the lives of patients and their caregivers at such a significant time in their lives. I also enjoy teaching other members of the health care team about attentiveness to the spirituality of their patients.
I have worked at Fred Hutch since 1999. I primarily see patients at Fred Hutch at Overlake Cancer Center.
Outside of work, I value family time, including playing games, watching an occasional movie and attending lots of Irish dance performances and competitions with my wife and children. I also enjoy working in the yard, watching hummingbirds and walking through nature.
Patient Care Philosophy
I create a safe space to talk about whatever is on your mind that is important to you, regardless of your spiritual identification (e.g., religious, spiritual, seeker, agnostic, atheist, human). I seek to engage you and help you discover and integrate what makes a positive difference in your life.
