Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility

“Discussions about reproductive health issues are by nature private and can lead to profound questions about one’s life and future goals. It’s very meaningful to be welcomed into these conversations, and it’s a responsibility that I take very seriously.”

— Dr. Ryan

What do you enjoy about your specialty?

Being a reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist gives me the opportunity to work with a broad range of people, from patients going through menopause to children born with disorders that affect their reproductive health. I work with cisgender and transgender patients as well as those undergoing cancer treatment. Regardless of the circumstances, discussions about reproductive health issues are by nature private and can lead to profound questions about one’s life and future goals. It’s very meaningful to be welcomed into these conversations, and it’s a responsibility that I take very seriously.

How do you help patients with cancer?

Some cancer therapies can lead to infertility or make it difficult for people to get pregnant in the future. I see patients before, during and after cancer treatment to help them maximize their ability to have children. During our visits, I focus on addressing your individual goals and being responsive to those goals as we move forward. I can clarify the potential impacts of different treatments on your fertility and what we can do to preserve it. In conjunction with your health care team, I am here to support you, provide you with resources and help you build a family in a way that works for you.
