Facilitating Imaging Studies for Preclinical Research
We offer state-of-the-art in vivo imaging technology and infrastructure to support basic and preclinical studies. Our imaging options include ultrasound, bioluminescence and fluorescence optical imaging, MRI, multiphoton fluorescence microscopy and micro-CT. We are happy to consult at every step of your project, as well as provide imaging equipment training and study design, imaging and post-processing services.
Additional imaging resources are available through the Translational Bioimaging Core, or TBIC, which partners Fred Hutch Preclinical Imaging core with the University of Washington Department of Radiology to support imaging research for members of the Fred Hutch/UW Cancer Consortium.
All Fred Hutch preclinical imaging users have access to the state-of-the-art research preclinical imaging capabilities through the Fred Hutch-UW TBIC. TBIC provides access to imaging equipment that is available at Fred Hutch as well as UW.

Supporting Your Imaging Needs
Our expert team provides technical support and services to Consortium investigators for all their imaging needs.
Our support services include:
- Equipment training
- Imaging: Unassisted (after completed equipment training)
- Imaging: Assisted
- Study design: IACUC consulting
- Post-processing: Data analysis support and education
Our bioluminescence and fluorescence optical imaging systems can non-invasively measure fluorescent or bioluminescent signals to track whole-body tumor progression with high throughput. Available for assisted and unassisted imaging.
Our 7T Dry Magnet MRI uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues within the body. Available for assisted imaging only.
Our two-photon microscope is an upright multiphoton microscope equipped with a tunable dual wavelength laser/OPO system for longer wavelength excitation of cellular fluorescent probes. Available for assisted and unassisted imaging.
Our micro-CT provides non-invasive volumetric imaging, using X-rays to produce cross-sectional images and volumetric renderings. Available for assisted imaging only.
Our EchoMRI provides noninvasive, whole-body composition measurements without the need for anesthesia. Available for assisted and unassisted imaging.
