On Saturday, June 1, 2019, the Fred Hutch Survivorship program hosted its 13th annual free event for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, friends, family and health care professionals. Education on a variety of the late- and long-term effects faced by cancer survivors after treatment is completed was provided as well as information on wellness after cancer.

The event was very well attended with over 200 individuals affected by cancer and including caregivers, speakers, exhibitors, family and friends.

Evaluations completed by event attendees reflected overwhelmingly positive feedback.  Suggestions and comments will be considered in planning future events.

What attendees had to say
  • I liked the opportunity for cancer survivors, family and supporters to gather to hear tips on topics.  The facility and hospitality was excellent.  The survivorship panel discussion was excellent.
  • I appreciate the whole event! As a long term cancer survivor, I have long felt like the emotional and physical challenges of having had cancer were never properly addressed.  Here I learned that certain side effects and feelings are 'normal' and need to be addressed.
  • I liked all of the breakout sessions I attended.  Topics that I had quite a bit of knowledge about proved that I still have much to learn.  I loved Terri Tate!
  • The keynote speaker was excellent and so inspirational.
  • I appreciate the opportunity for caregivers and the public to attend.  I enjoyed the information provided at the booths, nice variety of community resources.
  • I liked the quality of presentations, conversations with other participants, support offered by organizations who had tables in hallways.  Great breakfast and lunch!
Keynote
