Support Research for a Specific Disease

Healthier lives for every person in every community.

Cancer and other diseases disrupt too many lives. At Fred Hutch Cancer Center, our world-leading researchers are collaborating across disciplines to find new prevention and detection strategies as well as more effective treatments and cures. Now, we need you. Your gift to our Cancer Research Fund goes directly to work — supporting the breakthrough research it takes to make life beyond cancer a reality.

Fred Hutch researchers are tackling dozens of cancers, from common forms, such as breast and prostate, to rare, deadly and understudied types. Our goal? A world where most cancers can be prevented, and the rest can be cured.

Fred Hutch is an independent, nonprofit organization that also serves as the cancer program for UW Medicine.

This unique relationship allows for enhanced care coordination with one of the world’s leading integrated health systems while accelerating the latest scientific breakthroughs in cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Fred Hutch is proud to raise funds that fuel the adult oncology program on behalf of both Fred Hutch and UW Medicine.

Featured Research

Fred Hutch’s 5,700 employees, including more than 245 research faculty, are united by a passion for discovery, deep humanity and a commitment to cures. Fred Hutch’s scientific and clinical teams provide bench-to-bedside research and care. Supported by state-of-the-art facilities, they generate discoveries and translate them into advanced therapies, clinical practices and public health approaches.

Dr. Delphine Chen

Breast Cancer

Our breast cancer research is broad and deep. We are discovering risk factors, pinpointing genetic drivers of breast cancer and improving existing therapies. We’re also reducing the long-term effects of treatment and developing new cures, including for metastatic disease.

Dr. Sita Kugel

GI Cancers

We are finding better ways to prevent, detect, and treat gastrointestinal tumors, such as colorectal, esophageal and pancreatic cancers. By studying the molecular underpinnings of these diseases, we are on the vanguard of novel prevention and treatment strategies tailored to individuals.

Dr. Heather Cheng

Prostate Cancer

For decades, our research has helped people with prostate cancer live longer and better. Now, we are leading leaps toward a precision oncology future — discovering which patients will benefit most from which treatments — and working to improve outcomes for all, including Black men, who face twice the risk of dying from the disease.

Hematology

Fred Hutch researchers have made revolutionary advances in treating blood cancers, and our work in this area, as well as in non-cancerous disorders of the blood system, continues to break new ground. We are decoding underlying molecular mechanisms, correcting genetic mutations that cause blood disease, developing novel therapies, and more to improve diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes for patients.

Tom Lynch

“People look to Fred Hutch for progress and cures. That’s our job, and that’s what we’re doing.”

— Dr. Thomas J. Lynch, Jr., Fred Hutch president and director and holder of the Raisbeck Endowed Chair
